[INT. PARK BENCH – EVENING – SUNSET]
(Maya sits
alone on a bench, holding a crumpled letter. Kabir walks in slowly. She doesn’t
look at him.)
Kabir:
You read it?
Maya: (without looking at him)
Three months too late, Kabir.
Kabir:
I didn’t know how to send it... or if I even should.
Maya: (finally looks at him)
You don’t send letters to people you leave. You send closure.
Kabir: (softly)
It was never about leaving. It was about not being enough.
Maya:
Don’t flatter yourself. You weren’t.
(beat)
But I didn’t need perfect. I needed you to stay.
Kabir:
I was scared.
Maya: (half-smile, bitter)
So was I. But I didn’t run.
(Long
silence. She stands up.)
Maya:
You don’t get to rewrite the ending now. This chapter’s closed.
Kabir: (tears up, whispers)
Can I at least be the footnote?
Maya: (pauses, then walks away)
You were always just the prologue.
